Alpha Tag Database
seem 0032, offset 4B, bit 6 must be set to "0"
in some cases, seem 0032, offset 02, bit 1 must be set to "0" also

first offset prior to text is the number of characters in the alpha tag, in hex
Example: "Cingular" would require "08" and "XLR8 Is Awesome" would require "0F"
Confusing? Maybe so. A little lesson for counting in hexadecimal. Forget what you learned about counting to "10" in Kindergarten; let's count to "10" in hex...
00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 0A, 0B, 0C, 0D, 0E, 0F, 10 (exciting, huh? wanna count to "10" in binary? 00, 01, 10 EASY!)

second offset prior to text has something to do with the band the network uses (ie. 850/900/1800/1900) I recommend not changing it.
It appears as though 01/02/03 denote 900/1800 and 04/08/0C denote 850/1900 and 05/07/09 denote all bands.

third offset prior to text is the first two digits of the "MNC" code, reversed
Example: For a network code of 123-456, you would see "54" in this offset

fourth offset prior to text is the last digit of the "MCC" code (digit #2 in the offset) and the last digit of the "MNC" code (digit #1 in the offset)
Example: For a network code of 123-456, you would see "63" in this offset

fifth offset prior to text is the first two digits of the MCC code, reversed
Example: For a network code of 123-456, you would see "21" in this offset

**all offsets are HEX**

offset 00 - bit 5: disable AMR Half Rate (1 on, 0 off) (bit 6 must be off)
bit 6: enable AMR Half Rate (1 on, 0 off) (bit 5 must be off)

offset 01 - bit 5: disable AMR Full Rate (1 on, 0 off) (bit 6 must be off)
bit 6: enable AMR Full Rate (1 on, 0 off) (bit 5 must be off)

How to tell what audio codec your phone is using:
While in a call, enter field test mode and in the Serving CS/TB screen, look on the bottom line beside "coder."
The first part of that string of letters is the part you're looking for.
AFS = AMR Full Rate
AH0 = AMR Half Rate
AH1 = AMR Half Rate
EFR = Enhanced Full Rate
FR = Full Rate
